Interpreting
In addition to the text-based services we provide, Amsterdam Translation Services also offers various possibilities for oral translation, or interpreting.
We have an extensive network of highly experienced interpreters who are specialised in a large variety of fields. They can help you to remove the cultural and linguistic barriers which may arise during such occasions as business visits or negotiation sessions.
You can count on the expertise and discretion of our interpreters. They have been trained to provide professional interpreting services in many different situations.
A distinction is made between three different types of interpreters. A liaison interpreter is used at relatively small gatherings to quietly inform the listener of what is being said, and is therefore sometimes also referred to as a whispering interpreter.
A consecutive interpreter is used at relatively larger gatherings, such as presentations. At these events the speaker pauses regularly to allow the interpreter to translate what is being said. In these types of situations a simultaneous interpreter can also be used, who is seated in a soundproof booth and uses a microphone to relay the translation to listeners in the audience wearing headsets. For conferences attended by members of various nationalities, it is possible to use several of these interpreters working at the same time from separate booths.
